《흘러가는 대로》는 상실과 극복, 그리고 그 끝에서 다시 마주하는 자유와 자유의지에 대한 이야기입니다.
이 작품에서 ‘흘러간다’는 말은 두 가지 의미를 가집니다. 아무것도 붙잡지 못한 채 시간과 감정을 흘려보내는 것, 그리고 그 흐름을 받아들이고 스스로 몸을 맡기는 것입니다. 네 곡은 그저 떠밀려가던 사람이 다시 자신의 의지로 움직이기 시작하는 과정을 따라 흐릅니다.
〈나루〉에서는 좁은 물길을 따라 어디로 향하는지도 모른 채 표류하고, 〈네가 있다면 좋을 텐데〉에서는 먼저 세상을 떠난 친구가 기억 속 그 자리에 머무는 동안, 남겨진 사람의 시간과 계절만 계속 흘러갑니다. 〈흘러가는 대로〉에 이르면 마음속에 멈춰 있던 시간도 다시 움직이기 시작하고, 상실을 끌어안은 흐름 속에서 다시 앞으로 나아가는 법을 배웁니다.
마지막 곡 〈보란 듯이, 오늘만은〉에서는 현실이 하루아침에 달라지지 않는다는 사실을 알고 있습니다. 해결되지 않은 것들은 잠시 뒤로 미뤄두고, 적어도 오늘만큼은 자신의 의지대로 살아가기로 합니다. 그렇게 이 음반의 흐름은 표류에서 수용을 거쳐 스스로 선택한 자유에 닿습니다.
상실하고, 멈춰 서고, 다시 움직이고, 때로는 모든 것을 잠시 내려놓은 채 자유로워지고 싶은 마음은 낯선 감정이 아닙니다. 《흘러가는 대로》가 누군가에게는 조용한 위로로, 또 누군가에게는 다시 움직일 작은 계기로 남기를 바랍니다.
작품 외적으로는 네켄킴이 주로 활동하는 대명동 신(Scene)에서 활발히 활동하고 있는 16인의 목소리가 함께 담겼습니다. 서로 다른 사람들이 한 노래 안에서 목소리를 보태는 순간, 혼자 흘러가던 이야기는 함께 흘러가는 이야기로 마무리됩니다.

《As It Flows》 is a story of loss, recovery, and the freedom — and free will — rediscovered at the end of that journey.
Throughout the record, the idea of ‘flowing’ carries two meanings: allowing time and emotion to simply pass by when there is nothing left to hold on to, and choosing instead to accept that current and entrust yourself to it. Across four songs, the album follows someone who begins by being carried along helplessly, but gradually learns to move again through their own will.
In <Naru>, the narrator drifts along a narrow stretch of water without knowing where it will lead. In <Wish You Were Here>, a friend who passed away before their time remains fixed in memory, while the seasons and the life of the person left behind continue to move on. By the time we reach <As It Flows>, the time that had stood still within begins to move once more, and the narrator learns how to carry their loss with them while continuing forwards.
The final track, <Go Ahead, Just for Today>, recognises that reality does not change overnight. The things that remain unresolved are set aside for a little while, and, for today at least, the narrator chooses to live on their own terms. In this way, the album moves from drifting, through acceptance, towards a freedom that is consciously chosen.
Loss, standing still, finding the strength to move again, and sometimes wanting to put everything down for a while and simply be free — none of these are unfamiliar feelings. I hope 《As It Flows》 can remain with some listeners as a quiet source of comfort, and with others as a small reason to begin moving again.
Beyond its narrative, the record also brings together the voices of sixteen people who are actively involved in the Daemyeong-dong scene, where Neken Kim is primarily based. As different voices come together within a single song, a story that began by flowing alone comes to an end as something shared — a story of flowing onwards together.
